I am extremely honored by my Royal appointment as Poet Laureate of New Utopia. It is not an honor I take lightly. I know that New Utopia has been your passion and your dream for many years; to grant such an opportunity to a relative newcomer takes a leap of faith and princely understanding. This I appreciate.

I will request the application for citizenship from Susan and send in all needed materials; I look forward to receiving your letter of appointment and official documents.

Dear Mr. OMann,
I thank you for your kind words, both in rhyme and e-mail messages.

I had not considered that New Utopia needed a poet. Having said that, perhaps we do.

Susan has persuaded me that I should name you to the post of Poet Laureate of New Utopia and grant you citizenship in our new country.

Send the application and your picture for the passport, I will have prepared a letter of appointment which will be sent with your other documents.

There will be no official compensation, but I should think that sales of a book of verse would do well through the shops of New Utopia. We might even offer it for sale our web site for you.

I offer my apologies for the delay in responding, but it is getting quite busy now.

Anthem for New Utopia

Pioneers of New Utopia,
On these platforms strong we stand,
Anchored firmly in the sea floor,
Joined together, hand-in-hand.
Wheresoever you may roam,
Love, oh love your island home.

They said we were deluded
Yes, insane we all must be,
But here we are unitedIn a paradise at sea.
The sunrise wakens in the East,
The Western sunset brings us peace.
May the good Lord bless our island,
Keep Prince Lazarus from harm!

May our people live united,
Strong in soul and strong in arm!
Justice, Truth and Levity,
Health, Joy and Longevity!

Pink shells and coral reefs!
Seabirds above, bright fish below.
While ‘round us dolphins leap!

No get-rich scheme, it is a dream
Come true for you and me!

Flotilla of the free!
Where all relax and pay no tax
Or social security!

Afloat beneath the azure skies
Our hospital of fame!
Led by our Queen, the shy Maureen,
They heal body & brain.
